Post-Doctoral Position

A Postdoctoral position is available to study the role of ion channels and sensory nerves under physiological and pathophysiological conditions (such as inflammation and tissue injury). Prior experience in patch-clamp electrophysiology and molecular neurobiology would be valuable. Hands-on experience with animal models is highly desired and knowledge in visceral hypersensitivity is a plus. Post-Doctoral Position
University of Texas Medical School- Houston
Post-doctoral position is available in the laboratory of Professor Lenard Lichtenberger in the Department of Integrative Biology and Pharmacology, University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (http://ibp.med.uth.tmc.edu). Research in the laboratory is focused on the molecular cell and systems biology related the barrier properties of the gastrointestinal (GI) mucosa and the development of GI-safe pharmaceuticals, with a focus on nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant field e.g. physiology, pharmacology cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology. Experience with one or more of the following: animal models of digestive diseases, mammalian cell culture, basic molecular biology and cellular biochemistry will be required and familiarity with immunofluorescence microscopy and FRET methods.

Faculty Positions in Cell Signaling
The University of Texas Medical School at Houston
The Department of Integrative Biology and Pharmacology in The University of Texas Medical School at Houston has tenure track faculty openings for researchers with a focus on the cell biology, physiology or pharmacology of cell signaling. Appointments will be at the Assistant Professor level for candidates completing their postdoctoral training, or at the Associate / Full Professor level for candidates with well-funded, independent research programs. Applicants using innovative in vitro or animal model systems, or computational and systems approaches to study cell signaling and/or physiological regulatory mechanisms will be given preference. Responsibilities include the development of a funded, internationally recognized research program that complements existing research activities in the department (http://ibp.med.uth.tmc.edu/) and participation in medical and graduate education.
