Epithelial transport; membrane physiology; electrophysiology
The efforts of this laboratory are directed at elucidating the cellular and subcellular mechanisms involved in ion transport by epithelial tissues employing electrophysiologic techniques (including "patch-clamping"), studies on membrane vesicles and studies on natural membrane components reconstituted into artificial lipid bilayers.
Admission to a tutorial experience in this laboratory would require adequate education in basic principles as judged by the instructor and a commitment of at least six months.
